With a population of just over 300,000 in an area smaller than Ohio, Iceland is the most sparsely populated country in the developed world, yet one of the most beautiful and interesting destinations. Upon arrival in Reykjavik, we will meet our Icelandic guide and driver who will escort us around this spectacular island nation, all in the span of one amazing week.
Iceland is unparalleled for its geothermal and glacial natural wonders. Here are just a few of the highlights which this tour includes: the hot springs at Geysir, the massive Gullfoss waterfall, Skaftafell National Park and Vatnajökull glacier. We will cruise amid the iceflows in lovely Lake Jökulsarlon and visit powerful Godafoss, another one of Iceland’s thunderous waterfalls. We will visit Lake Myvatn in the north with its migrating waterbirds and a landscape dominated by evidence of recent volcanic eruptions including lava pillars and roofless vents.
