April 22nd - 28th, 2017
If you ask a native of New Orleans what they are having for dinner, they ALWAYS know. Any meal can become a celebration of family, friends and flavors in Cajun country. Come and enjoy a springtime ramble through the Deep South down to the banks of the scenic Mississippi River.
We will enjoy four nights in New Orleans at the Le Pavillon Hotel where we will have time to fully explore this fascinating and resilient city. We will see the French Quarter and the Garden District with our great local guide, spend some time at the National WWII Museum and drop by the Mardi Gras Museum as well. The sights, sounds and incredible cuisine of The Big Easy are all part of the plan. We’ll let the good times roll at local jazz clubs and night spots.
While we are in the area, we will take a tour of the bayou country, visiting the swamps and haunts of the resident alligators and we will explore the historic plantations along the famed River Road and tour two before heading back toward home. A day’s drive will bring us to Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA. With over 6,500 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and a lovely lake, Callaway will offer us a final spring morning to enjoy before having lunch and heading home to Hendersonville. The south is on parade and we’re ready to experience her joie de vivre!
