Day 1, November 17th : Hendersonville to Raleigh, North Carolina Museum of Art
Your tour begins when a Globe Treks representative picks you up at your doorstep. Enjoy a continental breakfast before embarking on a first-class luxury vehicle trip from Hendersonville, as we begin our captivating journey to Raleigh. Enjoy scenic views, camaraderie with fellow travelers and the last vestiges of fall color as we descend from the mountains to the Piedmont.
After a delicious lunch, explore the North Carolina Museum of Art, where classical and contemporary masterpieces come together. The museum is housed in the West Building, designed by architect Thomas Phifer, which includes works from classical antiquity to contemporary art. The collection encompasses European, American, African, and modern and contemporary art including notable artists such as Rodin, Monet, O’Keeffe, and Warhol. The NCMA also features an expansive outdoor park that integrates art into the natural landscape. The Ann and Jim Goodnight Museum Park includes sculptures, walking trails, and other installations, providing an opportunity to enjoy art in an outdoor setting.
Check into the AC Hotel, a luxurious haven in the heart of the city. The AC Hotel Raleigh seamlessly blends modern design with Southern charm, offering a comfortable retreat. Unwind and refresh before an evening of exploration. Enjoy dinner at a downtown Raleigh eatery, experiencing the diverse culinary delights that make the city a gastronomic gem.

 

Day 2, November 18: Raleigh City Tour and Art Exploration
Start the day by immersing yourself in the rich cultural tapestry of Raleigh with a guided city tour. Explore the historic NC State Capitol with its stunning Greek Revival architecture, see NC State University, the Mordecai Historic Park and the Warehouse District before stopping for lunch at the vibrant City Market. With its charming atmosphere, cobblestone streets and historic brick buildings, City Market has been a hub of activity since the 1900s.
After a delicious lunch, continue to the Contemporary Art Museum for a modern artistic experience. The museum showcases works by both local and international artists, contributing to a diverse and eclectic collection. Visitors can expect to see cutting-edge and thought-provoking pieces. We will also visit the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill to see another of North Carolina’s premier institutions of higher learning. Enjoy another delicious dinner at one of the Triangle’s exciting restaurants this evening.


Day 3, November 19: Durham Excursion, Science Exploration, and Camelot at the Martin Marietta Theater
Venture to Durham this morning as we will explore the stunning Sarah P. Duke Gardens and marvel at the architectural wonders of Duke University. The Sarah P. Duke Gardens is a premier public garden on the Duke University campus that covers 55 acres and is divided into four main areas: the Historic Gardens; Culberson Asiatic Arboretum; Blomquist Garden of Native Plants; and Doris Duke Center Gardens. It serves as both a peaceful retreat for relaxation and a center for education, research, and horticultural practices.
Enjoy a leisurely lunch in the charming Ninth Street district, savoring the local flavors and embracing the district’s unique charm. We continue our journey to the cutting-edge Research Triangle, exploring Raleigh’s North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, which offers a wide range of exhibits covering diverse topics such as paleontology, geology, astronomy, and marine biology. Explore interactive displays that showcase North Carolina’s rich biodiversity and its ecosystems, from the mountains to the sea. After a delicious early dinner, attend an exceptional 40th anniversary performance of the Lerner and Loewe musical, Camelot, at the Martin Marietta Center.


Day 4, November 20: Old Salem and MESDA
After another scrumptious breakfast at the AC Hotel, we will embark on the luxury coach for the return journey to Hendersonville, stopping at Old Salem and the Early Southern Museum of Decorative Arts. (MESDA), and the Gardens at Old Salem. Old Salem Museums’ Gardens is a historic site telling the stories of people, including Moravian, Black, and Indigenous peoples, in the American South. As one of America’s most comprehensive history attractions, visitors are engaged in an educational and memorable historical experience. MESDA contains the finest collection of its kind in the nation, featuring architecture, furniture, ceramics, metalwork, needlework, paintings, prints, and other decorative arts made and used in the early American South. Arriving back in Hendersonville, a Globe Treks representative will return you to your doorstep filled with memories marking the end of our unforgettable Raleigh Revelry Camelot tour.
