Remember the Alamo!

Just let me say, I had a GREAT time on our Texas Hill Country Tour and I'm sure our guests would say the same thing. I headed out with our group of "riders" on the motor coach and Allison Baker left two days later with our guests who flew to Texas (the fliers). The two groups met up in San Antonio at our hotel.

This tour included San Antonio, Fredericksburg, and Austin. And we even made it to Luckenbach, where we heard a "live" rendition of the famous song. We also toured the LBJ Ranch and met descendants of his prime herd.

The FOOD in Texas was awesome! We feasted on Texas barbecue and seafood and stopped at one restaurant known for its homemade pies. The pie is so popular at The Bluebonnet Cafe, the restaurant offers "Pie Happy Hour" everyday from 3 to 5 pm.

Here's a list of the choices:

  • Apple

  • Cherry

  • Pecan

  • Fudge

  • Peanut Butter

  • Banana Cream

  • Coconut Cream

  • Coconut Meringue

  • Chocolate Cream

  • Chocolate Meringue

  • German Chocolate

  • Lemon Cream

  • Lemon Meringue

Other than the food at The Bluebonnet Cafe, the highlights for me were The Alamo (of course), the San Fernando Cathedral, the San Antonio Riverwalk and the LBJ Ranch. It was a great time from start to finish - especially for the "riders" on the motor coach. We all made new friends and laughed and talked and ate our way back to WNC.
