The Brevard Music Center Orchestra and Chorus will conclude their 90th Anniversary Season with a monumental performance at the open-air Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium, led by Artistic Director Keith Lockhart. This season finale features the legendary cellist Yo-Yo Ma, whose career is a masterclass in musical boundary-crossing and cultural diplomacy. From his early days as a child prodigy performing for presidents to his 19 Grammy Awards and the establishment of the Silkroad Ensemble, Ma has transitioned from a traditional classical virtuoso to a global icon of "cultural citizenship." His presence on stage is bolstered by the powerhouse vocals of Grammy-winning baritone Reginald Smith, Jr., and the meticulously prepared BMC Chorus under the direction of chorus master David Gresham. Together, they will deliver a performance that reflects Ma’s lifelong dedication to using music as a bridge between diverse traditions and the natural world, providing a profound end to the summer festival.
