Experience the perfect blend of history, culture, and luxury in this extraordinary five-day tour in Washington, D.C., where each moment is curated for an unforgettable experience in our nation’s capital city. DC is always inspiring and great fun to visit but in the late fall it is particularly stunning. The weather is cool and crisp, the crowds are smaller and we will have ample time to experience the many attractions of the mall, museums and the world-class galleries. We will offer a full day tour to Annapolis, but you may choose to remain in DC for even more touring and museum time there. We always include a music event and the Kennedy Center is always our first choice.

Day 1: Scenic Drive to Washington, D.C. - Arrival at the InterContinental Willard Hotel
Embark on a leisurely drive from Western North Carolina, through picturesque landscapes, still ablaze with fall color. As we arrive, the historical elegance of The Willard captivates with its iconic presence. Nestled in the heart of the city and rated by Condé Nast Traveler as the best Washington DC Hotel in 2023 with a score of 99.88, this refined hotel has been a landmark since 1818. Join famous guests like Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, Walt Whitman, Buffalo Bill, PT Barnum and more than ten presidents who have reveled in the Willard’s hospitality. Meticulously restored, The Willard seamlessly blends timeless charm with modern sophistication, offering a
haven of opulence. Upon check-in, you will be greeted by the exquisite architecture, historical ambience and impeccable service that define the Willard experience. Day 2: City Tour National Mall and Smithsonian Museums
Immerse yourself in the monumental beauty of Washington, D.C. with a city tour that includes Georgetown, The National Cathedral, the Tidal Basin, the Potomac River, the White House and much more. After a delicious lunch, you will have the afternoon to explore the National Mall, where the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial stand as testament to the nation’s history. Your Globe Treks tour manager will help you pick the museums you most want to see, so you can customize your DC experience. Explore the Smithsonian Museums, each a treasure trove of art, culture, and innovation. From the National Museum of American History to the National Air and Space Museum and the National Gallery of Art, your afternoon will be filled with enriching discoveries.


Day 3: US Capitol Tour, Museums and Monuments Exploration
Begin the day with a tour of the US Capitol including the Crypt, Rotunda and National Statuary Hallway. Take a stroll along the Tidal Basin, where the beauty of the Jefferson Memorial and Cherry trees create a serene backdrop. Explore the iconic landmarks of the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, each holding a profound place in the nation’s narrative. You will also have time to return to the national Mall and explore different museums or relax and put your feet up at the wonderful Willard Hotel. In the evening, after another delicious dinner, immerse yourself in a performance at the Kennedy Center, rounding off a day of cultural and historical immersion.


Day 4: Annapolis Day Trip (optional)
Embark on a scenic drive to charming Annapolis, or stay back and enjoy the Willard. Explore the United States Naval Academy, see the Maryland State House and witness the charming historic district with narrow streets, colonial architecture, and 18th-century buildings. Stroll along Main Street and explore the many shops,
restaurants, and galleries, witnessing timeless tradition and coastal charm. Enjoy lunch in this historic town before returning to Washington, D.C. for another fine dining experience.


Day 5: Roanoke Excursion and Return to Hendersonville
Our journey concludes with a picturesque drive to Roanoke, Virginia, relishing lunch at Hollywood’s famous restaurant. The joy of our luxurious escape linger as we drive back to Hendersonville, NC, where a Globe Treks representative will return you to your doorstep filled with memories and new friends, knowing you have experienced the very best Capital adventure imaginable.
